FIN60104 - ITF is one of the modules selected to participate in the AAIL. The assignment is designed to incorporate the objectives of AAIL, the module learning outcomes (MLOs) and Taylor’s Graduate Capabilities (TGCs).

Senior citizens would expect ratio analysis to provide a comprehensive view of a company's financial health, emphasizing stability, income generation and risk management. They are likely to prioritize conservative investments that offer a balance of income and capital preservation for long term.

Download the latest FIVE (5) years Financial Statements (from audited report) of the selected firm. Data can be collected from any other reliable sources. Select a firm listed under your respective sector assigned. Meaning: may used readily available ratio and not showing the calculation. The task is emphasized on critical interpretation of the ratio/result.

The assignment is to be submitted as a single written report of 2,208 words (min of 1,800 and max of 2,318). Word counts - text of answering questions. Its excluding cover page, excluding feedback form, rubrics, figures, tables, references, and appendices which can be converted to image.

Each student is required to submit only one MS Word file of your assignment to Turnitin (MyTimes) by 6th July 2024 @ before 2pm. Assignments submission via any other alternative modes will not be accepted. Late submission (based on Mytimes submission receipt) penalty is 50% reduction on the marks obtained for a 24-hour grace period. Assignments received beyond the 24-hour grace period will receive a zero ( inclusive inactive student due to payment issue).

Students are allowed to convert cover page, table content, certain data/ results (data that common among group members), referencing list etc. to image (then paste on word file). The rest of the answer shouldn’t be converted to image. Each assignment should not exceed 25% in its overall similarity index, which excludes bibliographies and references, with no big chunk or whole paragraph was colour coded and no single number of sources should exceed 5% similarity. If this similarity is not fulfilled, the tutor will provide adequate justifications and send the assignments to the Academic Integrity Officer for examination (with reference to University’s Academic Integrity Procedure, clause 4.1.2).

Assignment Questions

Objective : To enable students to apply financial management techniques towards problem solving and critical thinking. Students are required to be independent and resourceful with minimum guidance from the lecturers. The task to complete the individual assignment is divided into two parts.

Part A – Conduct the Task and submit the file individually.

1) Describe the selected company’s background (100 words).

2) Analyze and critically discuss the company performance based on the financial ratios of the selected company for the past FIVE years. You may compare it with industrial average (1,100 words). May use table to present the ratio analysis for FIVE years and convert the data to trend analysis (or any chart). Please use TWO financial ratios for each group of ratios as per below:

Eg: Students Y was involved only in printing the poster. However, student Y able to explain the whole process, on how the group was established, how company selection done, what focus on analysis, how it went on 8th June and so on.

2. Develop materials to display during exhibition for senior citizens on potential investment companies. For example, 2 – 4 pages of printed material such as brochures, protype, posters. Groups may use their creativity to develop material such as video clips, PPT presentation etc for effective knowledge transfer. Due: 4th June 2024

Group members get to decide on who and how tasks are divided between members.
