Anode: The first operation is to check the physical state of each anode. Check the state of the encapsulating material and stud hole filler. The anode should be securely fastened to the hull, and all areas of possible water ingress between the anode and the hull are to be sealed with epoxic mastic coating. A sign of water ingress will be the building up of a calcareous deposit around the anode.

HATCH COVER SEALS
舱口盖密封件
Sealing between the hatch covers and the coaming is achieved by means of a water seal, which is fitted to the panel and tightens against a convression bar on coaming top.
舱口盖和围板之间的密封是通过水封实现的,水封安装在面板上,并紧贴围板顶部的凸杆。
Sealing between the hatch cover panels is achieved by means of a water seal, which is fitted on one panel and tightens against a compression bar on the Other panel.

The water seals are of MacGREGOR FlexSeal type.
水封为 MacGREGOR FlexSeal 类型。
When replacing the seals acting against coaming, check / replace the hatch cover bearing pads too. Worn or damaged bearing pads cause over-compression of the seals resulting in shortened lifetime of the seals.
更换作用在围板上的密封件时,也要检查/更换舱口盖轴承垫。磨损或损坏的轴承垫会导致密封件过度压缩,从而导致密封件的使用寿命缩短。
HATCH COVER SEAL GLUING INSTRUCTIONS

The following instructions apply when replacing hatch cover seals:

All the surfaces to be glued must be clean. A fresh cut seal surface gives the best result.

Cut the ends of the seal straight: use a mitre box and a sharp cutting blade or a special cutting tool. Water can be used as cutting lubricant.

Use ready made corner pieces only.

The butt joints must be glued first, then install the seal into the steel holder.

GLUING SEAL TO SEAL (BUTT JOINT)

Apply glue to one surface only.

Align the seal ends of the joint accurately. A gap or a step on the seal surface must be ground smooth to avoid leakage.

GLUING SEAL TO HOLDER (STEEL CHANNEL)

Straight pieces must be cut to nominal length +1%.

Remove the damaged seal from the holder.
从支架上取下损坏的密封件。
Clean the holder, or remove rust and paint the holder before gluing.

Apply glue to the bottom of the holder and to the back side of the seal. Wait until the glue is touch dry.

First fit the ends and corners and then press the straight part into the holder (simultaneously at several points of one straight section).

For the installation use a sledge hammer and e.g. a L50x50 - 500 profile (to force the seal into the holder). The seal must reach the bottom of the holder.

Check the levelness of the seal's contact surface and adjust where necessary.

BEARING PADS
轴承垫
When replacing damaged bearing pads it's important to check / replace the seals as well: in case the seal has lost its original elasticity (permanent set of 5 mm or more) there will not be enough compression of the seal to achieve a proper weathertightness of the hatch covers.
更换损坏的轴承垫时,检查/更换密封件也很重要:如果密封件失去了原来的弹性(永久 5 毫米或更大),密封件将没有足够的压缩来实现舱口盖的适当耐候性。
After the repair of the bearing pads the weathertightness of the hatch covers shall be tested with a hose test or using an ultrasonic testing equipment (e.g. MacGREGOR SHERLOG).

1. Scope of Work

1.1. Removal of the damaged or corroded section of the hatch coaming side plate.

1.2. Fabrication and installation of a replacement section as per the original design.

1.3. Ensure compliance with the ship’s classification society, shipowner requirements, and relevant international standards.

Conduct a thorough inspection to identify the extent of damage and mark the area to be renewed.

Obtain approval from Owner for the marked section before commencing the work.

Cut and remove the damaged portion of the coaming side plate

Clean the edges of the remaining coaming to ensure proper fit-up for the new plate.

Overhaul Preparations

1. Dismantle valves and pipes.

Dismantle all valves and pipes from the cylinder cover. See Procedure 907-2.2,908-2.2 and 909-11.2.

Dismantle the starting air inlet block and the cooling water outlet block from the exhaust side of the cylinder cover.

Cooling Water Jacket

2. Remove the cooling water jacket.

Mount four eyebolts and the lifting chains as shown in the sketch.

Remove the four screws which secure the cooling jacket to the cylinder cover.

Lift the cylinder cover free of the cooling jacket and land it on a couple of planks.

Remove and discard the O-rings from the cover, and carefully clean the cooling jacket and the cylinder cover.

3. Mount the cooling water jacket.

Provide the cylinder cover with new O-rings, well lubricated with oil.

4. Seat reconditioning tools.

The tools for reconditioning of the valve seats are found on tool panel 901.

5. Fuel valve bore.

The tool consists of a common spindle with a handle, a guide, a carbon cutter, a seating face cutter and a grinding mandrel.

Clean the fuel valve bores using the carbon cutter. If required, recondition the fuel valve seating with the appropriate cutter.

Grind the seating with the grinding mandrel and a grinding compound (e.g. Carborundum No. 200).

After the milling/grinding, clean the bore and seating carefully, and check that the seating is not damaged.

The tool consists of a spindle with a handle and a grinding disc.

After cleaning the valve bore and seating, grind the seating with the grinding disc and a grinding compound (e.g. Carborundum No. 200).

After the grinding, clean the bore and seating carefully, and check that the seating is not damaged.

Clean the bores for safety valve/indicator cock.

Preparations before Mounting

9. Fitting of studs.

Lubricate the threads with 'Never Seize' or molybdenum disulphide (MoS2) and fit the valve studs.

Tighten up the studs in accordance with the screwing-in torque stated on the data sheet.

Fill up the grooves between the valve studs and the bores for the valve studs with permatex to prevent water or oil from entering the bores during operation of the engine.

Carefully wipe the cylinder cover contact surface facing the cylinder liner, while the cover is resting on the support.

Lift the cylinder cover by means of the crane and lower it carefully into position.

FUEL OIL PUMP OVERHAUL
The engine is provided with one fuel pump for each cylinder (Six "06" in total). The fuel pump consists of a pump housing of nodular cast iron, a centrally placed pump barrel, and a plunger.
Job’s Scope
Allow Dismount/removal of 12 fuel oil high pressure pipes by unscrewing the union nut at the fuel valve end of the high-pressure pipe and unscrewing the union nut at the fuel pump end of the high pressure pipe. All FO high pressure pipes to be lifted from the engine.
As per maker’s recommendation the FO high pressure pipes to be overhauled before remounting it on the engine.
Allow removal of 06 Inspection Platforms. A total of 60 bolts/nuts M16 to be released in order to disconnect the platforms
Allow for the removal of total 6 main engine fuel pumps complete with shock absorber from site to shore workshop.
Allow for the removal of 6 plunger and barrels and the renewal of all seals.
Allow for the overhaul of 6 Puncture Valves and 6 Suction Valves.
Allow for local cleaning in the vicinity of each fuel pump (6), allow for area 1mtr x 1 mtr at each site. (Medium – Marine Diesel Oil)
Pumps complete to replace on site.
Fuel pump timing to be checked by Maker’s representative (owner supply)

Identify suitable locations for VFDs, ensuring adequate ventilation and accessibility for maintenance.
Upon Owner’s Agreement installation to be carried out
Installation Process, in brief:

Mount the VFDs on vibration-free surfaces, such as bulkheads or dedicated panels, using anti-vibration pads.
Ensure proper clearance around the VFD for ventilation and heat dissipation.
-. Electrical Installation
Connect the VFD input to the main power supply, ensuring correct voltage and phase alignment.
Wire the VFD output to the motor terminals of the SW and LT pumps.
Install proper grounding for the VFDs and associated components.

To comply with the latest mooring requirements by the Panama Canal Authority (ACP), & Australia (Port Hedland) vessels must modify their mooring arrangements to meet updated safety and operational standards.
1. Scope of Work

The scope includes:
1.1 -. Assessment of the vessel’s current mooring arrangement.
1.2 -. Design and engineering modifications to comply with the latest ACP regulations.
1.3 -. Installation of additional mooring fittings and strengthening of existing equipment.
1.4 -. Testing and certification of the modified mooring arrangement.
2. Regulatory Requirements
The modifications must comply with:
2.1 -. Panama Canal Advisory to Shipping No. A-15-2023 (or the latest version).
2.2 -. SOLAS regulations for mooring arrangements and fittings.
2.3 -. Classification society standards for structural strength and mooring arrangements.
3. Key Modifications
3.1 -. Additional Mooring Lines:
Ensure the vessel has at least three forward and three aft mooring lines ready for use during Panama Canal transit.
Lines must comply with ACP specifications for material, length, and strength.
3.2 -. Towing Brackets and Strong Points:
Install or upgrade towing brackets at the bow and stern, rated to withstand ACP-mandated loads (e.g., 120 MT or as specified).
Reinforce structural areas around the brackets to prevent deformation during use.
3.3 -. Chocks and Fairleads:
Modify or replace Panama chocks (closed chocks) and roller fairleads to meet ACP requirements.
Ensure fairleads have sufficient clearance and are certified to handle mooring line loads safely.
3.4 -. Winches and Capstans:
Upgrade or install additional mooring winches/capstans with sufficient pulling and holding capacity to manage the required mooring lines.
Verify the operational efficiency and safety of all winches.
3.5 -. Deck Layout Adjustments:
Redesign deck fittings and mooring arrangements to allow for the simultaneous use of forward, aft, and midship lines, as per ACP requirements.
Ensure proper separation of mooring lines to prevent fouling during operations.
3.6 -. Strengthening of Foundations:
Reinforce the structural foundations of mooring equipment to handle the increased loads specified by the ACP.
4. Work Procedure
Step 1: Inspection and Assessment
-. Conduct a survey of the current mooring arrangement, including winches, chocks, bollards, and strong points.
-. Identify areas requiring modification or reinforcement based on ACP and class society requirements.
Step 2: Engineering Design
-. Develop detailed engineering drawings and plans for the modifications.
-. Obtain approval from the classification society and ACP (if required) before commencing work.
Step 3: Structural Modifications
-. Cut, weld, and install additional structural supports as per the approved design.
Install new mooring equipment and reinforce existing fittings.
-. Conduct non-destructive testing (NDT) on all welds to ensure structural integrity.
Step 4: Equipment Installation
-Mount new chocks, and/or fairleads in their designated positions.
- Align and secure all components to prevent operational failures.
Step 5: Testing
-. Perform load tests on all modified and newly installed equipment to confirm compliance with class society and ACP requirements.
