Week 10 Assignment - Interactive Visualization with Excel and Tableau
Purpose
The main purpose is to gain hands-on experience creating interactive charts based on the best practices we introduced in class. You will be mainly using Tableau to create interactive visualizations. For this week, we’ll focus on creating filters (and optional drop-down menus) in interactive visualizations. As the optional component of this assignment, you will also have the opportunity to use Excel to create interactive visualizations. (Yes, Excel! I know we have not used it in class so far. But I'd like to introduce it here for interactive visualizations as this is one of the most accessible tools for interactive visualizations! )
Deliverables
- The completed Tableau workbook (two visualizations) with specified filters (see below).
- Optional: The Excel file with the required chart
Instructions
Using what you learned from lectures and readings, create the following with the sample data at https://www.kaggle.com/datasets/anshika2301/hr-analytics-dataset?select=HR_Analytics.csv Links to an external site.
- Please read the description of the data Links to an external site. carefully.
- Create a Tableau chart of any type with "DistanceFromHome" and "Department" as the filters.
- Create a Tableau chart (of any type, but different from the first one) with filters on "AgeGroup", "EducationField," and "BusinessTravel"
- Optional: An Excel chart (of any type) with a dynamic dropdown on one category
