Aggressive Interior Fire Attack • First Due to Fairway Glen Working Fire

On Thursday April 14th, 2022, the Stockton Fire Department received multiple 9-1-1 calls for a house fire on Fairway Glen Street. Engine 2 had just left a medical emergency in the area when the alarm assignment was dispatched. Engine 2 had a significant jump on the other assigned units and arrived first due to fire showing from a single story, single family dwelling. Engine 2 pulled a cross-lay attack line, mask-up, and commit to an aggressive interior attack. Almost all the windows in the living area where the fire is have been self vented. This provided a fairly tenable environment for the fire attack team; with less than 'normal' heat and better than 'normal' visibility. The firefighter focuses on an aggressive attack, playing the stream across the room and knocking down the flames. The captain focuses on bringing additional hose line to support the advance, and surveying the conditions around them for safety considerations and suppression strategy. The fire attack team had an effective knockdown within minutes of arriving on scene. As the remainder of the alarm assignment arrive, each crew goes to work as predetermined by their order of arrival. Truck 2 arrives as first due truck and splits their 4 man crew into pairs; "2 up" to create vertical ventilation and "2 in" to search for life. Hose crews spent almost another hour extinguishing hot spots and conducting overhaul. Crews would remain on scene to conduct an investigation. As a captain on a large department I wanted you guys to know that 1. your videos are incredibly well edited and produced, 2. they are the best videos I have seen for table-top training, and 3. your department operates at a very high-level of skill and hustle; very, very impressive. Great job to all the firefighters doing the work and to the admin staff that produces these videos. They are incredibly useful to other departments and great PR for Stockton! Thank you.

As a retired firefighter of 22 years I have to say you guys have your act together. Obviously you have a fantastic training program, and your team approach to handling the fire ground is awesome! The citizens of your community should be honored to have you as their fire department and I hope the city council and or alderman of your city realize how well trained and how good of a fire department they have protecting them. To my brothers and sisters of the Stockton fire department you did a fantastic job, your pride and your commitment comes shining through. Stay safe and healthy. God bless.

While I cannot express my appreciation properly to ALL firefighters, I must state that of all the firefighter videos I have seen, Stockton's Bravest show incredible hustle. No one walks. Deliberate speed and decision are the hallmarks, it seems. I've not seen others address the fire initially and followup at such speed, and get water on the fire as quickly. My hat is off to all you ladies and gentlemen.

Well done for the whole team out there. Especially loved how Engine 2s captain let the neighbor know that you had the fire now and checked if amyone was still inside.. Very classy and shows the love you guys have for the community.

This is one of the better firefighting videos I've seen. They actually started getting water on the fire within a minute of arriving. Turns out this works pretty well.

For most the videos I've ever watched from other departments they need to take note here , you can pull A-line, charge it and get to work fast without screwing around. This department time and time again shows how to do it and get it done quickly. These videos and department are some of the best I've seen on YouTube.

The initial handline firefighter has it together and is obviously trained very well! Engineer did great job of charging line quickly

one thing (among others) I noticed is how he did a quick sweep left and right of the soffits (overhang) -took 2 seconds but quickly showed him that it hadnt breeched the attic there and he was less likely to be hooked from above ---great job

I’m so happy to finally see a professional fire department in action. This is what training and dedication looks like. Text book job!! I’m a retired Chief from Massachusetts who tried ( in vain ) to get everyone to this level! Congratulations
