Chinese actor Wang Xing has become a protagonist in a dramatic incident of human trafficking, which, unfortunately, is not a movie. 中国演员王兴成为了一起引人注目的人贩子事件的男主角，不幸的是，这并非一部电影。
Wang, who has appeared in supporting roles in several films and TV series, including Ip Man 3 and Under the Skin 2, reportedly received a casting invitation from a Thailand-based film crew in late December. 王，曾在多部电影和电视剧中担任配角，包括《叶问 3》和《脱皮爸爸 2》，据报道，他在去年 12 月底收到了一家泰国电影制作团队的 casting 邀请。
On Sunday, his girlfriend reached out on social media for assistance after he went missing on Jan 3 near the Thai-Myanmar border. He reportedly fell prey to a telecom scam group. Wang's case is particularly striking as this time an actor became a victim of human trafficking. According to reports, families of 174 other persons who are trapped in Myanmar are calling for collaborative rescue efforts. 王案特别引人注目，因为这次一名演员成为了人口贩卖的受害者。据报告，174 名被困在缅甸的其他人员的家属正在呼吁进行联合救援行动。
Undoubtedly, Chinese law enforcement agencies, along with their counterparts in neighboring countries, have made significant strides in combating telecom frauds. Between September 2023 and November 2024, over 53,000 Chinese suspects involved in such frauds have been apprehended, and the telecommunications fraud hubs near the Chinese border in northern Myanmar have largely been dismantled. 毫无疑问，中国执法机构及其邻国同行在打击电信诈骗方面取得了显著进展。2023 年 9 月至 2024 年 11 月间，共有超过 53,000 名涉嫌电信诈骗的中国嫌疑人被抓获，位于中国边境附近的缅甸北部电信诈骗中心也基本上被摧毁。
Nevertheless, such crimes, if left unchecked, could undermine the confidence of Chinese tourists in neighboring countries. Earlier on Thursday, Thailand's Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra emphasized the need for Thailand to enhance relevant laws and regulations to crack down on related criminal activities following the Wang Xing incident. 周四早些时候，泰国总理巴育·占奥差强调，泰国需要加强相关法律法规，以打击王兴事件后的相关犯罪活动。
Telecom fraud has long plagued Southeast Asia, posing a threat not only to the safety of Chinese citizens but also to local residents. In recent years, Chinese police have collaborated with their counterparts in Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, and other nations in numerous operations to combat telecom fraud. Yet, telecom fraud syndicates persist and are causing harm to all the involved parties. 电信诈骗长期以来困扰着东南亚，不仅威胁到中国公民的安全，也威胁到当地居民。近年来，中国警方与泰国、缅甸、柬埔寨、老挝和其他国家的同行合作，开展了多次打击电信诈骗的行动。然而，电信诈骗团伙依然存在，并对所有相关方造成了伤害。
In December an informal foreign ministers' meeting was convened in Thailand involving Myanmar and its neighbors — Thailand, Laos, China, India, Bangladesh, and Myanmar. The meeting specifically addressed border security and transnational crime issues such as drug trafficking, human trafficking, and online scams, with the goal of finding collective solutions. 12 月，在泰国举行了一次非正式的外长会议，涉及缅甸及其邻国——泰国、老挝、中国、印度、孟加拉国和缅甸。会议专门讨论了边境安全和跨国犯罪问题，如毒品走私、人口贩卖和网络诈骗，旨在找到集体解决方案。
Further actions are imperative. China must urgently enhance cooperation with its Southeast Asian neighbors and implement more effective measures to combat telecom fraud and its associated criminal networks.
