This coursework aims to develop critical thinking and social awareness in the process of researching and learning about the social and cultural issues covered by media platforms.

Individual 1,000 word essay (+/- 150 words), of the above with a strong central argument that is presented through an introduction, discussion/analysis and conclusion. At least 5 academic references (e.g. research papers, journals) and 10 media references (e.g. news, films, commercials, social content). Reference will be Harvard referencing (pdf given under coursework submission)

Based on the topic you have chosen for Written Report, create a video essay that serves as a visual representation of your written report. A Video Essay could be defined as the video equivalent of the written essay, combining text, audio (voice-over, music, sounds) and visual (images/film) modes. Video essays analyse media-related topics using the language of the multimedia.

Listeners should be able to follow the flow of your presentation and ideas easily. Your essay will serve as your content for the video but a clear script has to be written. You cannot read out your essay as the script. Please introduce yourself with your registered name only at the beginning of the video. Your face should be visible to the examiner at that time.

In this individual assessment, present a video essay on the topic chosen by you. The video essay can be presented in an informative yet casual manner, but should nonetheless have a strong central argument that is presented through an introduction, discussion/analysis and conclusion.
