    The rotary hammer drill must be set to the to the “drill only” mode when using the rebar cutter or the rebar cutter will be damaged. Also, as the rebar is cut, you must remove the resulting slugs from the cutter and the hole.

  3. With the micro-cleaning kit installed, vacuum up the dust that has accumulated in the bottom of the hole.

  4. Place the tip of the nozzle at the bottom of the hole.

  8. Place a plastic alignment bushing (also referred to as a “top hat”) over the threaded rod, making sure that it is flush with template surface.

    The bushing (top hat) ensures that the rod is vertically aligned as the adhesive cures. The adhesive takes approximately 6 minutes to dry and 6 hours to cure.

  9. Repeat the procedure until all rods and bushings have been installed for each hole.

2.2.2 Removing the Threaded Rods

  1. After the concrete adhesive has thoroughly cured, remove the alignment bushings (top hat) from the template.

  2. Remove the threaded rods from the mounting holes: Use a drill and stud extraction bit to first slowly back a rod out of its respective mounting hole by two or three turns, then carefully back the rod completely out of the hole.

  3. After all of the threaded rods have been removed, unfasten all segments of the template, by removing screws which holds template brackets.

    The precision bubble level and the triangular gauge block are expensive, high-precision components that must be kept clean. Also, keep all measuring surfaces clean.

    Check the precision bubble level for calibration before use.

    Verify that the level gives the same indication when the level is rotated 180 degrees on the long axis. If the level is not the same when rotated, then the level should be removed from use until it is recalibrated.

    The calibration of the precision bubble levels will need to be verified before the leveling process is complete. The position should be the same in both cases. If the bubble is at a different position after the rotation, the level is out of calibration. Repeat the verification for each level in use at this time.

  1. After the fourth jackscrew has been leveled, move the triangular gauge block back to its original position (right side) and place the pinpoint laser on the gauge block.

  4. Use the scale to measure the distance from the floor to the laser beam at each hole location.

  5. With the zero end of the scale against the floor, read the scale at the top of the laser dot.

  9. Loosen the lock-down discs on the four jackscrews. These jackscrews may need to be readjusted in the next section.

You will use the pinpoint laser and receiver to determine which side of the PET gantry jackscrews has the highest elevation.

  1. Establish a reference by placing the triangular gauge block on the three PHS jackscrews nearest the top of the gantry so that the 90-degree angle is positioned toward the gantry.

  3. Determine the height level of each of the rectangular gauge blocks. The highest elevation is the side with the lowest reading.

    For example, if the reading on the left gauge block is 1.400 and the reading on the right gauge block is 1.200, then the right gauge block is 0.200 higher than the left. Therefore, the left jackscrews should be adjusted to raise the gauge block by 0.200. The difference between each block should be no more than 0.003.

  4. Raise and re-level the low side of the PET gantry jackscrews so that they match in elevation to the high side.

  5. Verify the height by moving the pinpoint receiver from side to side, and adjust until the height matches. When this condition is met, you can level the remainder of the jackscrews in each row relative to the starting jackscrew.

  6. Position the lock-down disc of each jackscrew against the floor after adjustment.

Installing CT Shoes and Blocks

If mounting shoes onto a vinyl type of floor--the vinyl must be cut where the shoes will be place, see the following steps:

  8. Carefully remove all unwanted vinyl material and any ahedsive from the cut out area and replace metal shoe.

  9. Align the mounting holes in the blocks with the holes in shoe. Secure the blocks and shoes snugly into place using one each 1/2-13 x 6” hex-head screw and one each #1/2 large-OD case hardened washer per bolt hole location.

  2. Adjust the receiver so that the display reads zero as measured on the mounting block that has the high spot.

  3. Similar to finding the highest floor location previously, tape an engineer’s pocket ruler scale to a right-angle block (keeping the ruler perpendicular to the block).

  4. Use the ruler scale and pinpoint laser to measure the distance from the base of the block to the laser beam.

  6. Record the values for each block in the "scale ruler value" column in Table 1.

  9. Move the laser receiver to the three other mounting blocks, measure the deltas and record the values in the "laser height reading" column in Table 1 High Spot Calculation.

  16. Calculate the high spot offset for each block by adding the three values from the "laser reading," C-bore depth, and "target gap" columns. The total will be recorded in the "delta offset" column.
