00:00okay so the other day I was sitting
00:02across from someone over dinner and this
00:04is a dude who was in his 30s and he was
00:06working as a school teacher and he
00:08mentioned to me that he wanted to become
00:10financially free he'd been following my
00:12stuff for a few years and knew that I
00:13talked about this sort of stuff and knew
00:14that I flex about how much money I have
00:16and how big my businesses and all this
00:17sort of stuff every now and then and he
00:19wanted advice on how to become
00:20financially free and I had a lot of
00:23things you know we talked about a lot of
00:25things over over the dinner and then
00:27afterwards it just kind of got me
00:28thinking I get this question a lot when
00:30whenever I'm giving talks and stuff
00:31people will come up to me afterwards to
00:32have a chat and a lot of them will have
00:35this goal of Financial Freedom and so I
00:37thought I would just do a bit of a hot
00:39to hot shall we say got my little cup of
00:40tea um if you're watching this and you
00:43have the goal for Financial Freedom this
00:46would be my honest advice now just in
00:48case you happen to be new to the channel
00:49then hi my name is Ali and I used to be
00:51a doctor I had a day job working in the
00:53UK's National Health Service earning
00:54about £40,000 $50,000 a year and after
00:57doing that for 2 years I decided to take
00:58a little bit of a break from medicine to
01:00focus full-time on my YouTube channel
01:02and my business and I've actually been
01:03documenting the Journey of starting off
01:05as a medical student through to Junior
01:07doctor through to full-time entrepreneur
01:08through to author I've also written a
01:10book I've been documenting that on this
01:12YouTube channel for the last 7 years so
01:13you can literally see like track the
01:15progress from when I was a cute little
01:18medical student with a gap between his
01:19front teeth uh making almost no money to
01:21now kind of having a team of like 20
01:23people and running my own business and
01:25I'm now in a position where I would
01:26consider myself to be more or less
01:28financially free and so so I feel like
01:30there's potentially some useful things
01:32that I can offer to someone who wants to
01:34be in that position okay so Point number
01:36one is that we should really think about
01:38why do you want Financial Freedom what
01:39does Financial Freedom get you that you
01:42do not already have because money is
01:45just a psychological and social
01:47construct Financial Freedom is also a
01:49psychological and social construct What
01:52specifically do you want that Financial
01:54Freedom would buy now in my case in the
01:56early stages of my journey when I had a
01:58day job there was something very
01:59specific I wanted want I wanted the
02:01ability to go part-time the happiest
02:03doctors I knew were the ones who worked
02:043 days a week rather than 6 days a week
02:06and so I thought hey to maximize my
02:08chances of happiness and fulfillment
02:09which is the thing I think we all want
02:10at the end of the day you know I quite
02:11enjoy being a doctor but I can see
02:13myself not enjoying it if I had to do it
02:14full-time so I just wanted to have a way
02:17of making an extra few th000 a month few
02:19th000 a month because that would buy my
02:22freedom to be able to work three days a
02:23week and not have to worry about like I
02:25really should take that extra shift
02:27because like uh the mortgage payments
02:28are a bit high today and cost of living
02:30crisis and all all of this sort of stuff
02:32to me Financial Freedom meant buying my
02:35free time I felt like if I wasn't
02:37financially free then I would be almost
02:40by definition financially chained to
02:43something and that something happened to
02:44be my day job this is the position that
02:46most of us are in we happen to be
02:47financially chained to the thing that we
02:49do for work now for most of us that
02:51thing is one job for a single employer
02:54now this is not necessarily a terrible
02:56thing there are plenty of people that I
02:57know who love their lives and and are
03:00very happy and very fulfilled while also
03:02being proverbially financially chained
03:05to a single employer various people in
03:06my team are in many ways financially
03:08changed to me as an employer but various
03:10people in my team seem to really enjoy
03:12their jobs because the job comes with
03:13freedom and flexibility to an extent and
03:15they can work from anywhere and they do
03:17work that they think is Meaningful um
03:19and it's just you know Good Vibes
03:21similarly a lot of people I know who
03:22work at startups uh not the incredibly
03:25high growth really stressful kind but
03:27you know small company bit of a
03:28lifestyle business also really enjoy
03:30their jobs and have a lot of happiness
03:32and fulfillment even though technically
03:34they are financially chained to an
03:35employer so the reason I'm saying all of
03:36this stuff is because when it comes to
03:38this desire for Financial Freedom we
03:40really want to understand why what are
03:43we going for here is it that you want to
03:45be able to go parttime in your job is it
03:47that you want to be able to quit your
03:48job altogether is it that you want the
03:51lifestyle that you think rich people
03:52have is it that you want a private jet
03:54is it that you want a yacht is it that
03:56you want a house with the mortgage paid
03:57off so that you don't have to worry
03:58about paying the mortgage is is it that
04:00I don't know you want to be able to take
04:01your family on four holidays a year and
04:02ideally fly business CL like whatever
04:05the thing is everyone has different
04:06motivations for Financial Freedom and so
04:08it's worth figuring out what those
04:10motivations are and the reason it's
04:11worth figuring out what those
04:12motivations are is because Financial
04:14Freedom runs the entire gamut someone
04:16can be financially free with $2,000 a
04:18month if for example you live in
04:20Pakistan uh which is where I'm from and
04:22you're making I don't know 3 or 4K a
04:24month USD you're going to feel pretty
04:26financially free if you're living in New
04:28York City or in pal Alto or in central
04:30London and you're making 3 to 4K a month
04:32you're going to feel like you're
04:33somewhat on the poverty line it just
04:35sort of depends right similarly if your
04:38lifestyle costs if the sort of things
04:40that you would do if you had all the
04:42money in the world don't cost a lot of
04:43money again you will feel financially
04:45free with a much lower amount of money
04:47if however the sorts of things you want
04:49to do if you had all the money in the
04:50world require blowing large amounts of
04:52cash on Ys and dum Peron is that an
04:55expensive drink Dum Peron Crystal I've
04:57heard of Crystal whatever the like vosy
05:00whatever whatever these rappers buy if
05:01that is your idea of a good time you're
05:03going to need more money to feel feel
05:04financially free the thing to take away
05:06from this is that Financial Freedom is a
05:07feeling rather than a reality and we
05:09want to figure out what are the boxes
05:11that we would take that would give us
05:12that feeling and then once we have
05:13figured out those boxes we can reverse
05:15engineer how much money do we need to
05:18feel financially free it's not the only
05:20part of the equation there's also a good
05:21amount of inner work I know people who
05:23have tens of millions in the bank who
05:24don't feel financially free at that
05:26point clearly it's not about the money
05:28it's about the inner work but when I was
05:29sitting across from this chap over
05:31dinner let's call him John and he said
05:32his goal was to be financially free and
05:34I was like okay and in my mind we're
05:36going through all all of this
05:37psychological stuff was going through my
05:38mind to be like are you sure that's the
05:39goal like why is that the goal like
05:41what's the real motive what are you
05:41hoping Financial Freedom will buy that
05:43you don't currently have etc etc etc but
05:44like it was pretty obvious in John's
05:46case that he had a job that he sort of
05:47enjoyed but didn't enjoy all the time he
05:49has kids and he would like ideally to be
05:50able to do what he wants to be able to
05:52spend more time with the kids to be able
05:53to go on holiday and not feel as if he's
05:55tied to a job that requires him to be at
05:57a particular location at a particular
05:59time every every single day which is
06:00fair enough and so I asked John the next
06:02question which is and this is the advice
06:04that I would give if someone's looking
06:05looking for Financial Freedom after you
06:07figured out why you actually care about
06:08it what is the dollar amount that right
06:11now you think you need to feel
06:13financially free I guarantee that number
06:16will change as you get closer to it but
06:18that's okay we'll just pick a number for
06:19now because it's useful to have a goal
06:20to aim towards and then in the process
06:22of working towards that goal we're going
06:24to shift the goal posts and that's
06:25actually totally okay in fact I would
06:27say pause the video now and have a think
06:29what is the amount of money you need in
06:30income before expenses and all that
06:32stuff how much money do you need coming
06:33in every month to feel financially
06:36free worth having think about what is
06:38that number right now for me I would
06:40have said oh man if I could have 5K a
06:43month coming in in passive income I
06:46would feel really financially free cool
06:48so that's 60k a Year by the way once
06:50you've gotten to a point where you've
06:51made all this money and achieved the
06:52Financial Freedom then you're going to
06:53definitely want a place to invest that
06:55money which is where the sponsor of this
06:57video comes in and that is trading 212

07:43trading 212 for sponsoring this video
07:44and let's get back to it my friend
07:46Lawrence yo has a great blog moreo
07:48that.com amazing stuff and he has a
07:50great article about this he talks about
07:51how as you become the sort of person who
07:54is able to make 5K a month in passive
07:56income your identity changes you learn
07:58new skills and literally become a new
08:00person and so by the time you're get
08:01into 3 4 4 and a2k a month the sort of
08:03person you are is no longer content with
08:05just the 5K a month and so the goal
08:07becomes 10K a month or 20K or 50k or
08:09100K or a million a month or you know
08:10whatever the thing might be and again
08:11it's less about the money and more about
08:13what sort of person you are on route to
08:14becoming on on route to being able to
08:16earn that sort of money so that was a
08:17bit of a tangent but the point is let's
08:19pick a number and let's then figure out
08:22what we need to get there so in the case
08:24of John I didn't want to overstep too
08:26much too much by turning this into a
08:28whole like business coaching session
08:29with John and so like you know what he
08:31said when I asked him what his number is
08:32he said oh man if I could have a million
08:34pounds in the bank in the next 8 years
08:37then I'd feel really financially free
08:38and when he said that a million in the
08:40bank by age 45 I was like there's
08:43there's more exploration that needs to
08:44be done here we need to untangle the
08:46reasons why like why is a million a
08:47special number for for a lot of people a
08:49million is a really nice round number
08:50because it's like oh it's a million
08:51feels like a lot of money all of this
08:53kind of thing and it absolutely is a lot
08:54of money but I suspect with a little bit
08:55more back and forth conversations if
08:57John and I were having a private
08:58coaching session we could have got that
08:59number down down cuz we could have found
09:01ways for John to feel financially free
09:02even without a million in the bank and
09:04so there was a bunch of a bunch of
09:05things I was thinking on that front but
09:06let's just go with that let's say that
09:08your goal for Financial Freedom is I
09:10want a million in the bank in the next 8
09:12years okay fine so then we want to
09:14reverse engineer that so how much money
09:16do we have to make each year Well
09:17million divided by 8 is 125,000 now in
09:20order to have a million in the bank that
09:21that 125,000 presumably needs to be in
09:23savings and so like you actually need to
09:26be making let's say 250,000 a year in in
09:29order to pay off all your taxes and all
09:30your expenses and stuff or maybe should
09:32we say 200,000 in order to be left with
09:34125,000 in savings so reverse
09:36engineering from this John needed
09:38£200,000 a year in income in order to
09:42get to his goal of millionaire in the
09:43next 8 years okay cool we've established
09:46that we need 200k this is what is called
09:47a goal and it's useful to have a goal
09:49right like uh Warren Buffett has a great
09:51phrase I think it's from Warren Buffett
09:52which is you can do anything but you
09:54can't do everything so there's like a
09:56zillion things that you can do right now
09:58yeah you've literally got infinite life
09:59possibilities but if you have a clear
10:01goal then that narrows down your list of
10:04possibilities to assuming you want to go
10:07for the goal to things that would help
10:08you get to the goal now I have a kind of
10:11conceptual framework for this that I
10:13call GPS goal plan and system by the way
10:17uh this is the sort of stuff I'm
10:18teaching in my upcoming productivity
10:20course in my productivity lab which is a
10:21new community for aspiring and ambitious
10:24entrepreneurs creators and professionals
10:25that'll be linked down below if you want
10:26to check it out productivity.com anyway
10:28GPS stands for goal plan system I.E what
10:31is the goal cool what is the plan of how
10:33we're going to get to the goal and then
10:35what is the system for how we're going
10:37to stick to the plan now in this case
10:38let's say the goal was £200,000 in
10:40income every year again we can quibble
10:42all we like about the why behind the
10:43goal should we really have the goal of
10:45millionaire in the next 8 years does it
10:46really matter who really cares etc etc
10:48we can quibble about that all be like
10:49but let's let's just take it as a given
10:51because there's so much quibbling that
10:52can be done with financial goals I I
10:54love quibbling with people about their
10:55financial goals but like we'll put that
10:57off to the side so let's say say we do
10:59have that goal of £200,000 a year that's
11:01the goal okay cool then we think what is
11:04the plan what is the plan that you are
11:06currently following and what is the plan
11:08that you need to follow to get to that
11:09goal Everyone is always following a plan
11:12whether they are conscious of it or not
11:14in John's case his goal was 200,000 a
11:17year but the plan he was following was
11:19being a teacher teaching in a secondary
11:21school in London and earning I suspect
11:24somewhere between 50 and 70k maybe
11:26slightly less than that so let's say
11:27he's earning 50k just for the sake of
11:28argument Jon's plan is getting is is on
11:32track to earning 50k a year in income
11:33Jon's goal is 200k a year in income okay
11:36cool we have established very clearly
11:39that there is a discrepancy between the
11:40goal that John has and the plan that Jon
11:43is following to get there so in your
11:44case what is the goal that you have and
11:46what is the plan that you're currently
11:47following and no plan is also a plan for
11:49example in my case if my goal was to get
11:52six pack abs and the plan that I was
11:54currently following was eating burgers
11:55every day and never going to the gym and
11:58doing 500 step today clearly that plan
12:00is not going to get me to the goal of
12:02sixpack ABS so when we notice in this
12:05GPS model when we notice that there is a
12:06discrepancy between the goal that we say
12:08we want and the plan that we are
12:09currently following to get to that goal
12:11at that point we have to make a choice
12:13do you want to change the goal or do you
12:15want to change the plan because you
12:17can't have a goal I mean you can but
12:19like you are just setting yourself up
12:20for for unhappiness and misery if you
12:22clearly have a goal that you really want
12:24but the plan that you're following is
12:25not actually going to get you there so
12:27like let's try and align these things
12:28I'm all about living an aligned life you
12:30know aligning our the things that we're
12:31doing right now with like where we want
12:33to go in the future something something
12:34I talk about in in my book Feelgood
12:37productivity which is about how to do
12:38more of what matters to you without
12:39burning out and in a way that's actually
12:41fun and sustainable and meaningful you
12:42can check it out link down below so
12:43there's a discrepancy right between the
12:44goal and plan now I asked John this I
12:46said John it seems like we've got a
12:48discrepancy mate like between the goal
12:49that you say you want and the plan that
12:51you currently are following I.E being an
12:52re teacher in a school in London so
12:54which one would you like to change would
12:55you like to change the goal or would you
12:56like to change the plan the answer is
12:57not obvious here if for example John
13:00really really really liked being an RA
13:01teacher and loved his life and loved the
13:03fact that he has half of the year off on
13:05school holidays where he can spend time
13:07with his family and do things in the
13:09house etc etc great John might decide
13:11you know what I actually really want to
13:13continue being an AR teacher and
13:14therefore I'm totally okay with changing
13:16the goal my goal is not going to be a
13:17financial goal my goal is going to be a
13:18fulfillment goal I'm not going to worry
13:20about getting a million in the next 8
13:21years instead I'm going to worry I'm
13:22going to focus on taking care of my
13:23health and making sure I can show up
13:25with full presence for my family my for
13:27my wife and kids and etc etc that is
13:29totally fine if you find yourself
13:31wanting to change your goal I think that
13:33is amazing because there is nothing more
13:35sad than working towards a goal and only
13:37finding out when you're close to it or
13:38getting there that actually the goal
13:40itself was not what you actually wanted
13:42you wanted something else which is why
13:44I'm very bullish like whenever I kind of
13:45have these sorts of conversations with
13:46people and it results in them changing
13:47the goal I feel very happy because I've
13:49just saved you a ridiculously large
13:50amount of time and effort and pain
13:52because in one Fell Swoop you've decided
13:54to change the goal that you're working
13:56towards the goals that we work towards
13:58the goals that we choose to work towards
13:59are literally the thing that dictates
14:00our entire life right because when you
14:03set a goal or set an intention that
14:05generally hopefully informs the actions
14:06that you're taking to work towards it
14:08and those actions are what actually
14:10gives you your day-to-day experience of
14:11life it's not actually hitting the goal
14:13like whether or not your company is
14:14valued at 100K or a million or a billion
14:17these arbitrary numbers are not going to
14:18change your life the actions that you're
14:20actually taking day-to-day are the thing
14:21that changes your life and so if one
14:23person has a goal of hitting a billion
14:25dollar valuation for their startup and
14:27that causes them to burn the Midnight
14:28Oil and completely torpedo their health
14:30and their relationships to get there
14:31that person is going to be miserable
14:33compared to the person who for example
14:34had the goal of being able to make
14:36enough money to support their family and
14:38then the things that they were doing
14:39dayto day were kind of taking care of
14:42the physical health taking care of the
14:43mental health taking care of the
14:44emotional health taking looking after
14:45their family showing up for their family
14:46and friends doing Hobbies having fun
14:49that person would be way happier than
14:50the person who set the goal and then
14:52destroyed their life in order to get
14:53there so it's totally okay to change the
14:55goal if you want it's totally okay to
14:58not have have the goal of Financial
15:00Freedom or to lower the numbers again
15:02for me the goal Financial Freedom meant
15:043 to 5K a month if I had 3 to 5K a month
15:07i' get passive income I've been over the
15:08moon I really feel financially free to
15:10me the whole obsession with 10K a month
15:12100K a month million a month all that
15:13stuff only started coming further down
15:14the line I wouldn't say it's an
15:16obsession for me but like there seems to
15:18be a lot of stuff on the internet about
15:19like hey you know get your first 10K get
15:21your first 100K you got to be at least a
15:22millionaire by 20 or at least a
15:24decamillionaire by 30 and all this sort
15:25of stuff I think all of this stuff sort
15:27of misses the point yes there is value
15:29in Financial Freedom yes there's value
15:30in not having to worry about paying the
15:31bills but these arbitrary numbers are
15:33just arbitrary and if you can lower the
15:35bar for the goal if your goal is easier
15:37to hit then you more likely to hit it
15:40and maybe in many ways you're more
15:41likely to enjoy the journey to getting
15:42there so coming back zooming out a bit
15:45we've established a discrepancy between
15:46the goal 200k a year and the plan which
15:49is currently getting them to 50K a year
15:50do you want to change the goal or do you
15:51want to change the plan which is it in
15:54John's case he said hm no I want to
15:56change the plan because I want that goal
15:59so then it's like okay cool now we come
16:03stuff and so I asked joh okay so what is
16:07your plan what's your plan for making
16:08200k a year and he was like okay well I
16:10guess I could invest in real estate I
16:12was like okay how is investing in real
16:13estate going to get you to 200k a year
16:15cuz we cuz you're earning 50 right now
16:16you have very little free time and you
16:18want to use that free time to invest in
16:19real estate and that's going to make you
16:21an extra 150k a year for the next 8
16:22years reliably and he was like H like I
16:26could tell he he hadn't really thought
16:28this through he was just plucking real
16:29estate because it's it's a thing that
16:30people have heard about oh in invest in
16:32property and you'll get rich it's like
16:35and I was like do you do you have like
16:36millions or tens of millions sitting
16:39around waiting to be deployed in real
16:40estate as an investment he was like no
16:42obviously not I was like okay so real
16:44estate as an investment to get you to an
16:45extra 150k a year probably not the way
16:48to go probably and he was like okay yeah
16:51you're right but what else could we do
16:52what are some other plans to get to the
16:54goal now I really like a um model from
16:57Alex hosi about this he was the first
16:58person I heard to talk about this which
16:59is once you have set yourself a goal and
17:02you have figured out where you currently
17:03are so you've got the goal which is over
17:05there and you've got where you currently
17:06are which is over here once you figured
17:08that out you just need to figure out
17:10what are all of the different plans or
17:11paths that take you from A to B now if
17:13you don't know what those plans are or
17:15what those paths are you have a
17:17knowledge problem if you do know what
17:19those paths are but you're not executing
17:21on them you have an execution problem
17:23crucially in John's case he did not have
17:26an execution problem he actually had a
17:27knowledge problem he could not tell me
17:30what are some viable paths to get from
17:3250k to 200k he just did not have the
17:34knowledge and I think this is an
17:36underrated aspect of this whole like
17:38making money Financial Freedom
17:39entrepreneurship type space a lot of
17:42people say things like you don't need to
17:44learn anything you just need to execute
17:45you just need to take action and I I
17:47agree to an extent there's this thing in
17:49all this stuff which is the law of equal
17:50and opposite advice which is that one
17:52piece of advice that works for one
17:54person the absolute complete opposite
17:56advice could be the thing that works for
17:58someone else so some some people are in
17:59the mode of consuming too much
18:00information and never taking action but
18:02some people don't consume enough
18:04information to even know what actions to
18:06take in the first place and this is the
18:07position that John was in so in your
18:09case you're watching this hopefully
18:11because you're someone who wants
18:11Financial Freedom or you're just
18:13interested in seeing huh wonder what's
18:15going to say about the topic what but
18:17imagine your goal and and and imagine
18:18the plan that you're currently following
18:20could you tell me what are 10 different
18:22options for you to get to that goal what
18:23are 10 different viable options for you
18:24to get to that goal from where you
18:25currently are to getting to the goal if
18:26the answer is yes then you pick one of
18:28of them and you pick the one that has
18:29the best chance of success and you test
18:31it out but if the answer is no if you
18:32can't name at least 10 different parts
18:34that will get you there you have a
18:35knowledge problem you don't know enough
18:37to know what you don't know you don't
18:38know enough to be able to chart the map
18:40forward this was John's case he was like
18:42okay I could do real estate investment
18:43okay we've established that doesn't work
18:44he was like okay uh I guess I could
18:46start some sort of business I was like
18:48oh okay interesting what sort of
18:49business would you like to start and my
18:52cuz my eyes lit up when he said start
18:53some sort of business because generally
18:55a business is often like starting and
18:57growing your own business is often a way
19:00better way of getting rich than working
19:02for someone else there are very few jobs
19:03that will get you to Financial Freedom
19:05provided the goal is high enough in
19:06terms of monetary values uh monetary
19:08value but there are plenty of businesses
19:10that can get you to Financial Freedom so
19:11starting and growing your own business I
19:13think is a very reasonable default for
19:16if you want to be financially free you
19:18lean towards starting and growing your
19:19own business sure I was like okay what
19:21sort of businesses do we start here and
19:23he was like okay I I guess I could start
19:25a Tutoring company this is absolute
19:28classic any every smart person I know
19:30who has been to University lands on the
19:33idea of I could start a Tutoring company
19:35because they realize oh I could teach
19:38kids who are studying for their exams I
19:40could teach University students I could
19:41Mentor people in getting into University
19:43it's like a thing that we're all very
19:45familiar with but I think personally
19:46starting a teering company is a bad
19:48business for various reasons generally
19:50it's it's it's it's hard to make a lot
19:51of money when you're selling to
19:52Consumers it's not impossible but it is
19:54hot whereas very easy to make a lot of
19:55money when you're selling to businesses
19:57but most normal people don't think about
19:58selling to businesses cuz that's just
19:59kind of weird like what what do you mean
20:00selling to businesses like what and
20:02we're all so familiar with thinking like
20:04consumers because we are consumers we
20:05are normal people and so we think about
20:06selling stuff to normal people like
20:08ourselves but okay like let's say
20:09tutoring agency I was like okay cool
20:11let's say you start a Tutoring company
20:12how might that make you an extra 150k a
20:14year in your spare time and he was like
20:16well I guess I could open a tutoring
20:18center and I guess I could charge £10 an
20:20hour per student and so I was like okay
20:23that's like an extra basically 15K a
20:26month cool so how many students would
20:28you need to get an extra £15,000 a month
20:31I kind of did the maths and it's like
20:32okay damn I would need 1,500 students a
20:36month paying an hour assuming they were
20:38doing 1 hour a month in order to get
20:40that money I was like okay cool what if
20:41they were doing like four what if we
20:43doing an hour a week now it's like okay
20:45cool now I need like 500 students who
20:47are paying me £10 to do an hour a week
20:49500 students is a lot of students how
20:51are you going to find 500 students how
20:53are you going to stick them in a center
20:54is it going to be Zoom is it going to be
20:55real life and it's like we start to get
20:57into all these things how are you going
20:58to facilitate them how are you going to
20:59you know these are kids that we're
21:00talking about so we're going to have to
21:01think about freaking hiring X number of
21:03teachers for every one kid and suddenly
21:05we eat into our margins and all of a
21:06sudden this becomes a real total
21:07freaking nightmare of a business to run
21:09if you're trying to do it in your spare
21:10time cuz this guy had a job so we're
21:11like okay starting a tutoring business
21:13maybe not the thing what else could you
21:16do to make that 150k and then he threw
21:18out a few other idea he was like oh I
21:19suppose you know um I I know a lot about
21:22like safeguarding which is this thing
21:24that schools have to do if like a child
21:26says something that like impes there's
21:28some sort of child safety concern then
21:30the person who's in charge of
21:31safeguarding has to report it and log it
21:33and stuff and he was like you know Ali
21:34you've got online courses could I teach
21:36an online course about safeguarding and
21:38I was like thankfully I didn't have to
21:40say anything cuz the guy sitting next to
21:41me was like bro no one's going to buy an
21:42online course about safeguarding like no
21:43one cares and I was like yeah pretty
21:45spot on no one cares uh other than
21:47people who are literally in that job
21:49title in schools but they already have
21:51their training so like would be again
21:52really hard to make that business work
21:53and then it was black like clearly he
21:55just didn't know what are the options
21:56like how do you even theoretically make
21:59200k a year or make 10K a month or 15K a
22:01month from a business he just had
22:03absolutely no freaking idea this is very
22:04normal this is something I see a lot in
22:06people that I speak to which is that
22:08there is this like broad goal of I want
22:12to be financially free I want to make
22:13money and stuff and then they have
22:15absolutely no idea what the map or the
22:18terrain even looks like to get there you
22:20know for John I suspect the only
22:21exposure he had to entrepreneurship was
22:23watching like Dragon's Den uh on TV when
22:26he was younger or maybe watching The
22:27Apprentice on on TV when he was he was
22:29he was younger Dragon Den is like the UK
22:30version of shock tank if you're familiar
22:32with shock tank these are like
22:33entertainment shows rather than actually
22:34business education type shows he
22:36probably would have would have said okay
22:37well I guess I need to do an NBA maybe
22:39oh but I can't afford an NBA NBAs are so
22:41expensive blah blah blah blah blah blah
22:42there's clearly a knowledge issue here
22:43there's a knowledge issue because he
22:44does not know what are the possible
22:46paths to get from where he is to where
22:47he wants to be great and so the next
22:49thing I asked John was okay John you
22:51know it seems like this goal of
22:51Financial Freedom is really important to
22:53you right he was like yeah it's really
22:54important to me I was like you know how
22:56long have you been thinking about this
22:57he was like oh I've been thinking about
22:58it for years you know I tried to start a
22:59tutoring business back in the day but
23:00then it didn't work and I didn't have
23:01time I was like oh so so you have tried
23:03to start a business but it just didn't
23:04work and he was like yeah it just didn't
23:05work and then I was like okay cool so
23:06like you know we we've established that
23:08like you know maybe we want to do some
23:09sort of business to get there and he was
23:10like yeah and then I asked the question
23:12I asked John just T of curiosity how
23:15many books have you read about making
23:17money and he was like uh none and I was
23:21like how many books have you read about
23:22starting and growing a business he was
23:25like none and then I was like okay no
23:27that's all good how how many podcasts
23:29Have you listened to that are about
23:30making money or starting a business and
23:32he was like oh I don't really listen to
23:33podcasts okay that's fair enough so let
23:36me get the straight John you have a goal
23:38of Financial Freedom and you want this
23:40thing for some reason which is to make a
23:41million in the next 8 years which
23:42requires you to make 200k a year which
23:44would put you in the top 0.1% of earners
23:47in the UK or something like that you
23:49have this goal that you say is really
23:50important to you because it it will buy
23:51you Financial Freedom to spend more time
23:53with your family and be able to do what
23:54you want but you have never once read a
23:56book or listened to a podcast or watched
23:58a video about anyone teaching you how to
24:00get to that goal what's up with that and
24:03he was like like I've never I've
24:06never thought of that and I was like
24:08yeah it's all good man like most people
24:09don't think of this thing because we
24:11don't view making money as a skill the
24:12example I said to him was like you know
24:14I went to med school in case you didn't
24:15know and in order to get into med school
24:16you have to jump through a bunch of
24:17Hoops you have to have done chemistry
24:19and biology and maths and like at gcsc
24:21or a level and past through exams with
24:22flying colors and blah blah blah blah
24:23blah blah you have an interview you have
24:24work experience the only people they let
24:26into med school are people who already
24:28have that groundwork that Foundation
24:30because they know if you just rocked up
24:31to med school without any of that they'd
24:32have to spend freaking years teaching
24:33you the absolute Basics before you can
24:35even get started with the medicine thing
24:37so if you were trying to train to be a
24:38doctor you wouldn't dream of never
24:40reading a book about it or never
24:41watching videos about it or never
24:43attending a class about it you would
24:44just think like obviously in order to
24:45learn the skill of being a doctor I have
24:46to go to med school and I need all this
24:47groundw and then I have to put in a lot
24:49of work to get the knowledge and then
24:51once I've got the knowledge I can then
24:52apply it by trying to practice on
24:53patience it's kind of the same thing
24:55with entrepreneurship entrepreneurship
24:56and making money is a skill if you want
24:58to ear 200k a year it's a skill I for
25:00the record have the skill of being able
25:02to earn 200k a year I can almost
25:04guarantee that as long as I retained my
25:06mental faculties if I were to lose
25:08everything overnight I would be able to
25:09make 200k a year within within a year
25:11because I've got the skills cuz the
25:13skills of making money are a very
25:14specific type of thing the skills of
25:15Entrepreneurship but most people don't
25:16think like that they don't realize this
25:17thing is a skill and it is a thing that
25:18you have to learn you wouldn't dream of
25:20trying to be a surgeon without learning
25:21stuff and then applying it
25:24similarly this thing of I want to be
25:26financially free I want to start a
25:27business I want to make Milli ions but
25:28I've never once read a book or listened
25:30to a podcast or watched a video about it
25:32it's a bit sus um and so I said this to
25:36John and I was like yeah what do you
25:38think of that and he was like yeah um
25:40that's a good point so where do you
25:42recommend I start and I was like oh glad
25:44you asked uh where should I start and I
25:47gave John a reading list and I was like
25:49hey I can hey man I can I can give you a
25:50reading list you know if you just read
25:51these four books and listen to these few
25:52podcasts I guarantee you'll just
25:54massively get a firmware update in your
25:55mind like you know how your iPhone
25:57updates itself every now and then or
25:58whatever it's like it's like that it
26:00will give you a firmware update which
26:02will then allow you to at least see the
26:03map cuz right now you have a goal and
26:05you have your current starting point but
26:07you have no idea what the roots are to
26:09getting there and reading these books or
26:11and or listening to these podcasts will
26:13fill it fill in the blanks it will give
26:15you more of a sense of what's the map
26:17and then once you know what the map is
26:18at that point you can decide okay is
26:19this a thing that I seriously want to
26:20pursue or is this a thing that I don't
26:22want to Pur which is fair enough but
26:23right now we just had no idea what the
26:24map even was and then other people
26:25around me on the table cuz this was like
26:26a birthday party everyone else was like
26:28paid attention to be like ooh you know
26:29can I have that reading list as well
26:31because everyone was sort of listening
26:32in send me into this conversation to see
26:33like huh this guy wants to get rich I
26:35kind of want to get rich like what's
26:36what's going on here and so these are
26:37the four books they're link down down
26:38below in the video description and I
26:40actually have videos about two of them
26:41in case you want to watch the videos but
26:42you should read the books as well do not
26:43be one of those people that's like oh I
26:45don't need to read a book I don't
26:46believe in reading books I'm just going
26:47to watch the video no you're trying to
26:48be financially free for God's sake like
26:50you're trying to enter the top 1% if not
26:52more like you have to read the books
26:55it's just really freaking dumb if you
26:56don't read the books anyway um those
26:58four books are number one the
26:59millionaire fast lane by MJ DeMarco
27:01video envelope number two million doll
27:03weekend by Noah Kagan number three $100
27:06million offers by Alex hosi and number
27:08four Secrets by Russell Brunson that is
27:11my personal recommended reading list for
27:13people who want to get started with
27:14entrepreneurship I think those books are
27:15all amazing I recommended these four
27:18books well three of them because million
27:19dollar weekend only came out recently to
27:20a friend of mine N9 months ago this
27:22friend wanted to quit his job in
27:24management consulting he's working in
27:25London and he wanted to make money on
27:26the internet and so he and I had a
27:28coffee I was like great how much money
27:30do you want to be making he was like 10K
27:31a month I was like great have you read
27:32any books about business he was like no
27:33what should I read I was like read these
27:35three books millionaire fast lane $100
27:36million offers incom Secrets this was
27:38before million doll weekend came out
27:40that would is now added to my list of
27:41recommendations and he read those books
27:44and he took action and after he read
27:46even just the first one after he read
27:47the millionaire fast lane he said to me
27:49I think this in real life but yeah he
27:50basically said to me I can never have a
27:52job ever again now that I've read this
27:53book because I now realize what I was
27:55missing if there is just one book on
27:56that list that I would recommend for
27:57everyone it's a fast lane it's long you
27:59can listen to it on Audible if you want
28:01it it just gives you a real sense of
28:03what's the map of how to get rich how to
28:04become financially free but now this
28:06friend who read those books and took
28:08action on them N9 months later is making
28:09$35,000 a month from a software business
28:13$35,000 a month within 9 months from a
28:15software business these results are
28:17atypical this friend is very smart his
28:19friend takes action he read he did the
28:21things that I I Tau him to do cuz he was
28:22like okay Olie knows his I'm just
28:24going to do the things that Oli tells me
28:25to do and he just executed now he make
28:2735 month freaking insane he's able to
28:30quit his job completely able making
28:31$35,000 a month in within 9 months cuz
28:35action just saying so we've got these
28:37four books there are also three podcasts
28:39that I would recommend all of them are
28:41actually incidentally interviews that
28:43I've done because I've interviewed
28:44entrepreneurs and business coaches and
28:45stuff and I ask the sort of questions
28:48that people always ask me about how to
28:50make money and those are my two
28:52interviews with Dan Priestley and my one
28:54interview with Robin weight and I would
28:56add to that list if you're looking for
28:57more podcasts my interview with Nicholas
28:58Cole and my interview with Cody Sanchez
29:00I will link all of those on the Deep
29:01dive YouTube channel down below it's
29:03very easy if you have not yet read those
29:05four books and listen to these 3 to five
29:07podcast episodes and you are trying to
29:09make money on the internet and you don't
29:10know where to start and you're trying to
29:11be financially free you're just like
29:13like just do that it's such an easy
29:15First Step I'm not asking you to take
29:16action million dollar weekend actually
29:18by noan his first step is to take action
29:19I'm not asking you to take action I'm
29:21just saying just read the stuff just
29:22consume the information it will give you
29:25a map think of it like studying for a
29:27test in school if you Vibe with my
29:29channel you're probably pretty you know
29:31somewhat studious and just like
29:32genuinely think of this as like you know
29:34Ali this guy who I kind of follow the
29:35YouTube channel of who's who's gotten
29:37Rich from doing this stuff has given me
29:39like recommended reading and recommended
29:40watching and I'm just going to read and
29:41watch and take notes if you just did
29:43that I guarantee you're going to have a
29:45massive massive massive firmware update
29:46in your brain that will hugely help you
29:49on the journey to Financial Freedom if
29:50you refuse to do those then you're not
29:52going to make it whatever that's fine so
29:55those are that's the recommended reading
29:56and recommended listening it's just easy
29:58ground work easy ground workor that you
29:59can do to fill in the map again the law
30:01of equal and opposite advice if you are
30:03the sort of person who has already read
30:04loads and loads of stuff about starting
30:05a business including those things and
30:07you have not taken action this advice
30:09does not apply to you you need to just
30:10freaking take action so read million
30:12doll weekend and take action based on
30:13what no Kagan tells you in that book but
30:15if you're like John and you just don't
30:17have the right information in your head
30:18you need to read these books and listen
30:19to these podcasts to then get the right
30:21information in your head to become to at
30:22least know what the map is to become
30:23financially free and then John said man
30:27I'm going to read these books oh but I
30:29don't have time to read how do I how do
30:31I have the time to read I've got a job
30:32and I've got kids I was like okay in F
30:33John I don't have kids so like but you
30:35know so take whatever I say with a pinch
30:36of salt but John come on if you got all
30:39these un audible could you find half an
30:40hour in your day to listen to audiobooks
30:42and he was like oh yeah I was like why
30:45don't you do that and he was like oh I
30:46just I don't know just I've never really
30:48listened to an audiobook I was like what
30:50do you do on your commute to school when
30:52you kind of walk SL take the train to
30:53school every morning to teach oh and he
30:56was like oh um I just listen to music I
30:58was like good cool how long is your
30:59commute he was like oh yeah half an hour
31:01each way great so we have an hour a day
31:02of commuting time which instead of
31:04listening to music you could listen to
31:05the audio books or the podcasts would
31:07that work and he was like yeah like
31:08great fantastic um it's not that hard
31:12everyone has time in the in their life
31:13to be able to listen to audiobooks I
31:15agree if you have super busy life etc
31:17etc you might not be able to find the
31:19time to read even then I think everyone
31:20can find half an hour before bed or wake
31:22up half an hour earlier to read in the
31:23morning cuz books are gamechanging but
31:25you can always find time to listen to
31:26audio books while doing the dishes while
31:27doing the laundry while going about your
31:28day while at the gym while commuting to
31:30work in your lunch break there's always
31:32time to listen to audiobooks if this is
31:33the sort of thing you care about there's
31:34always time and this is literally the
31:37easy stuff all I'm saying is asking you
31:39to do is to consume some information
31:41it's worth recognizing that the vast
31:43vast vast majority of people in the
31:44world are not financially free I gave a
31:46talk at the London School of Economics
31:47the other day and also another one at
31:48the how-to Academy both talks had about
31:50300 people in them and I asked a
31:52question at the start who here would
31:54consider themselves financially free and
31:56like one person in the audience put his
31:57hand up and that guy was a guy called
31:59Matt who I knew who was sort of my guest
32:01at the event and he's built and sold
32:03businesses for tens of millions then I
32:04asked the audience like how many people
32:06aspire to be financially free and every
32:08single hand went up of 300 people 299
32:10were not financially the vast vast
32:12majority of people in the world are not
32:12financially free if you would like to be
32:14financially free your goal is something
32:16extraordinary it's something atypical
32:19it's like the vast majority of people in
32:20the world who play football are not
32:22professional football players who do it
32:23for a living if you're trying to be
32:24financially free you're you're you're in
32:26that in that category
32:28where you're trying to go for something
32:29that's actually that very few people
32:31have and if you won't even consume the
32:33freaking information because you can't
32:34find an hour in your day to listen to
32:35some AUD bugs like you're not going to
32:37make it it's just not going to happen
32:38and that's okay but if if if it's not
32:41your goal but if it is your goal and
32:42it's not going to happen then like come
32:44on um you know our business does about
32:47half a million well yeah about half a
32:49million dollars a month is we're trying
32:51to get to a million a month we're trying
32:52to get a 10 million a year basically and
32:54so every day I consume literally hours
32:57of audio in terms of videos and podcasts
32:58and audio books usually at Double speed
33:01from people who are making more money
33:02than I am people who are further ahead
33:03in the entrepreneurship game the sort of
33:05YouTube channels I watch Sam ovens Ravi
33:08abuvala Alex hosi Leila hosi Russell
33:10Brunson Dan Martell I'm listening to a
33:12book called uh Blue Ocean strategy at
33:14the moment which is like a strategy
33:15Business book uh reading a book at the
33:17moment called Ready fire aim which is a
33:19business book when people get into my
33:20car and like audible autop plays or
33:23podcast Auto plays or video Auto plays
33:25and it's like at Double speed and it's
33:26like a business video I still do to the
33:28day they're Sil should be fun guess you
33:30practice on small stuff people are
33:31amazed like who hey how do you retain
33:33all that information or like how do you
33:34even understand what they're saying and
33:36like how do you retain it and like why
33:37are you listening to this stuff I'm like
33:39I mean I can see why you've questioned
33:40why I'm listening to this stuff but like
33:42I have a goal of getting our business to
33:4310 million a year and I think I know
33:46what the plan is to get there and so I
33:47am executing on that plan but at the
33:49same time I think it's always useful to
33:51consume information from people around
33:53from people who have gotten there and
33:55seeing what they say and you know I
33:57started off listing to things at one
33:58time speed then I moved it to 1.1 then
34:001.2 then 1.3 and over time you can
34:02actually train your own listening speed
34:03so now me having an hour of time to
34:05listen to audiobooks actually helps me
34:07consume 2 hours of audiobooks instead
34:09which is just useful if I'm trying to
34:11exploratory explore a particular area
34:13and I'm just trying to fill in the map
34:14there's reading for exploration and
34:16reading for exploitation this is more
34:17like reading for exploration if I'm
34:18reading for exploitation if I'm like if
34:20I found the one book like $100 million
34:21offers and I'm taking action on it then
34:23I will slow down and take notes and do
34:25the follow the thing and do it properly
34:27but what I'm asking asking for John and
34:28for you is to just read for exploration
34:29it doesn't matter if you do it first it
34:31doesn't matter if you do it while doing
34:32other things you're just trying to
34:33roughly fill in the map that's the whole
34:34idea it's like if you're playing tennis
34:35at a particular level if you want to get
34:37to the next level you need to either
34:38hire a coach who will take you to the
34:40next level or play with people who are
34:41better than you because yeah that's how
34:42you get to the next level similarly with
34:44business if you're currently making zero
34:46money you need to read content from
34:48people who are helping you get to 10K a
34:49month once you're making 10K a month you
34:51then switch to 100K month content once
34:53you've done that you switch to a million
34:54month content you know all that kind of
34:55thing and at a certain point you know
34:56they stop being books and stuff written
34:57about things so you start having to go
34:58to masterminds and events and talk to
34:59people and get coaches and stuff it's
35:01like everything in life there are levels
35:02to every game that we're trying to play
35:03the game of becoming financially free
35:05via making money through a business is a
35:06game that has levels and if you're
35:08currently at level zero read the stuff
35:10that I'm recommending to get you to
35:11level one that's what I would say to
35:12John that's that's what I would say to
35:13you if you're still with me in this in
35:15this video there are a few other things
35:16that I would say to someone who's in
35:18this in this list that I would say to
35:20John I didn't say the stuff to John but
35:21I would if John happens to be watching
35:23this video um another major thing is
35:25sort your life out like if you want to
35:27an entrepreneur think of yourself as an
35:29athlete an athlete it's it's not just
35:31about what they do on the field it's
35:32also a lot about what they do off the
35:33field athletes don't just show up and
35:35then be like oh you know I can just
35:37destroy my body in the rest of the time
35:39to be successful as an entrepreneur you
35:41also want to have the rest of your life
35:42together you don't want to sacrifice
35:44your life for the sake of your business
35:45so you want to take care of your health
35:46you want to take care of your
35:47relationships you want to make sure
35:47you've got some Hobbies you've got to
35:48make sure you've got some time for
35:49relaxation the health thing often comes
35:51first my friend s Bloom has a phrase
35:53which is that there is no such thing as
35:54a loser who wakes up at 5:00 a.m. and
35:56works out if you're currently not taking
35:58care of your health make it a priority
36:00it's not that hard to wake up an extra
36:02half an hour early and go for a run or
36:03to wake up an extra hour early and do a
36:05workout the energy that that gives to
36:07your life is energy that you can then
36:08apply to your day job and to your
36:10business and to your friends and family
36:11and just generally it's very very good
36:13for you if you have energy rather than
36:14if you're like a bit of a slob the other
36:16thing I would say is stop wasting your
36:18time watching TV and stop wasting your
36:20time scrolling on social media
36:21especially if you have a day job and
36:22you're trying to be an entrepreneur yeah
36:24you're like an athlete would you want to
36:25waste that time watching TV or would you
36:26want to waste that time scrolling social
36:28media when you could be investing that
36:30time into reading books about business
36:31or working on your business this is
36:34there's going to be people in the
36:35comments being like this guy toxic
36:36productivity hustle culture yeah fine
36:39toxic productivity hustle culture if
36:41your goal is to have a healthy balanced
36:43life where you get time to watch TV and
36:45scroll social media in the evenings
36:46amazing that's fantastic but if your
36:48goal is to be financially free and the
36:50plan that you're following requires you
36:51to watch TV for a couple of hours a
36:53night and scroll social media for 2
36:54hours a day you're not going to make it
36:56and so like we either change the goal or
36:58change the plan if you're one of these
36:59people who cry toxic productivity at the
37:01thought that I'm telling people to stop
37:02wasting the time watching TV and like
37:03scrolling social media your goal is
37:05probably not Financial Freedom and
37:06that's okay I'm not trying to tell you
37:08what goal you should have what I'm
37:09saying is that if you do in fact have
37:11the goal of becoming financially free
37:13and wanting to make a lot of money in
37:14the case of John wanting to make a
37:15million over the next 8 years that's
37:16actually quite a big goal and
37:18extraordinary goals require
37:19extraordinary inputs watching TV for a
37:21few hours and scrolling social media for
37:22a few hours every day is not one of
37:24those things especially if you say that
37:25you don't have time to read or listen to
37:26podcasts you know go go for a walk
37:27instead get the steps in and do and
37:29while listening to an audiobook that
37:31will help you level up your business
37:32like that is the thing that I would say
37:33if someone genuinely wants to be
37:34financially free that would be my honest
37:35advice how much time are you actually
37:37wasting in your life that are doing
37:38things that are not taking you to any of
37:40your goals if your goal happens to be to
37:42watch all of every film Disney has ever
37:43made three times over great amazing
37:45you've got a goal and you're sticking to
37:46the plan but if the goal is not that
37:47then don't waste your time watching TV
37:50that would be my my my humble two cents
37:52on that front I would also say use your
37:54day job to your advantage there is no
37:56law of physics that says you're not
37:57allowed to work on your side hustle
37:58while you have a day job don't tell
38:01anyone in my team that I hope they're
38:02not watching this video but back when I
38:03was a doctor there were always times
38:05Quiet Moments in the day in those Quiet
38:07Moments other people would be scrolling
38:08social media and watching YouTube videos
38:10in those Quiet Moments I would be on
38:11notion planning out my next video or I
38:12would have my little notebook with me
38:14sort of sketching out what like the
38:16architecture of our database was going
38:17to look like or like I would have my
38:18iPad with me and i' would be thinking
38:20okay cool how do I want to design my
38:21thumbnail for my next video that sort of
38:23thing back when I was in medical school
38:24and built my first business again in
38:26between lectures rather than just like
38:27screwing around and in the evenings
38:29sometimes rather than going clubbing I
38:31would be coding away and building the
38:32products and stuff while also trying to
38:33maintain a social life and trying to be
38:34broadly healthy I didn't really manage
38:36on the health front but I managed to
38:37maintain the social life cuz for me I
38:38realized I don't I'm not really a party
38:39kind of guy to me it's more fun sitting
38:41in the library with my friends while I'm
38:44coding away and we're all working than
38:45it is to go to a nightclub so it's like
38:47you can always use the moments in the
38:48day in your day job to be able to make
38:50progress on the side hustle you know in
38:51your lunch breaks instead of scrolling
38:53Instagram you can read a book on Kindle
38:55on the Kindle app on your phone you know
38:56all that kind of stuff there are always
38:57ways to use your day job to your
38:59advantage everyone has days off everyone
39:00has annual leave you can use your annual
39:02leave to your advantage as well like
39:03again everyone always it's like oh yeah
39:05how do you do this with a full-time
39:06job it's like a full-time job is not in
39:07fact a full-time job a full-time job has
39:09lots of periods of downtime you can use
39:11those periods of downtime and use those
39:12to your advantage surround yourself with
39:15other people doing similar things this
39:17whole thing that you are the average of
39:18The Five People You spend the most time
39:20with is 100% true that's absolutely true
39:22so John if you're watching this or
39:24whoever you are who are the five people
39:25you spend the most time with and do they
39:26average you up or do or do they average
39:28you down as it relates to your goals I'm
39:31not saying you must cut out all your
39:32friends out of your life I'm saying it's
39:34worth finding ways to surround yourself
39:36with people who are trying to do the
39:37same thing one of the interesting things
39:39that I've noticed over the years is that
39:41anyone who spends a lot of time with me
39:42ends up getting rich it just sort of
39:44happens uh like anyone who's ever lived
39:46with me has ended up starting their own
39:48thing on the side for some of them the
39:50thing has grown and then they've decided
39:52that actually I don't want to don't want
39:53to take this all the way but for some of
39:54them the thing has grown and they've
39:55decided to take it all the way and now
39:56they another you're financially free for
39:58a lot of friends of mine who talk to me
39:59about this stuff they are starting
40:01businesses and growing those businesses
40:02there being around me and people like me
40:05and know non- grandio way helps Nodge
40:07you in the direction of you know the
40:09stuff you want to do you know I'm mates
40:10with Chris Williamson he's an absolutely
40:12jacked podcaster he lives in Austin if I
40:14lived in Austin and hung out with Chris
40:15every day I would be jacked because I
40:17would just take the gym more seriously
40:18if I hung out with people who were
40:20really into yoga I'd be more flexible if
40:21I hung out with people who were really
40:22into Jiu-Jitsu I'd probably have solid
40:24Jiu-Jitsu I hang around with people who
40:26want to make a lot of money and my team
40:28uh and so it just sort of happens so
40:31surround yourself with people who are
40:32doing the same thing how do you find
40:33those people again if you can't figure
40:35that out you're not going to make it
40:36it's not that hard you've got the
40:37internet like you can find groups of
40:39people that meet up you can host dinners
40:41host entrepreneur dinners for people who
40:42are on the same level who are also
40:43trying to get to 10K a month whatever
40:44the thing might be but it's not just
40:46about physical people it's also about
40:47the content diet that you consume if
40:50100% of the content you were to consume
40:51like for at least an hour a day was all
40:53about entrepreneurship and how to make
40:54money you would end up learning the
40:56ropes of Entrepreneurship and how to
40:57Makey money pretty much by osmosis
40:58obviously there's no substitute for real
41:00life interactions with real people but
41:01like the content Diet also plays a big
41:03role in this and the final thing I would
41:04say is that if you're serious about this
41:06Financial Freedom thing you're embarking
41:07on a very long journey it takes a while
41:08to get there and when you get there
41:10you'll realize that actually the journey
41:11was What mattered in the first place so
41:13what I would say is along the journey
41:14try and have fun make the process feel
41:17good don't neglect your health and your
41:19relationships because those are more
41:20important things than Financial Freedom
41:21but the journey to Financial Freedom is
41:23absolutely exhilarating it's like
41:24playing a video game got playing Horizon
41:26forbidden West it's like a it's like a
41:27video game I don't like the goal is not
41:29to complete the game the goal is to have
41:30fun along the way just like you know
41:31Alan watt says the goal of a musical
41:33symphony is not the climax the goal is
41:35to enjoy the symphony to enjoy the time
41:38the goal of a dance is not the finale
41:41the goal of the dance is to enjoy the
41:42dance similarly the goal of Financial
41:44Freedom if you've got to the end of this
41:46video is not in fact Financial Freedom
41:48it's choosing a goal that you feel is
41:50worthwhile and working towards it while
41:52enjoying the journey so I would say if
41:53you are watching this then whatever
41:55stage of life you're at you actually
41:56have the ability to become financially
41:58free if you want it if you don't want it
42:00that's a different question but if you
42:01want it the information is there and you
42:03can take action on the information you
42:05can make it happen I would just say
42:06along the way recognize that you want to
42:08enjoy the journey it's like playing a
42:10video game where the video where the
42:11points of the video game are is real
42:13money that you can cash in for like cool
42:14holidays and like a nice apartment and
42:16like experiences and stuff it's just
42:19really really cool it's an absolutely
42:21exhilarating journey and I love being on
42:23that Journey I'm continuing on that
42:24Journey why do I have the goal of
42:25getting our business from 5 million to
42:2610 million cuz why not it's the next
42:29level of the video game why do I play
42:31Horizon forbidden West on very hard
42:33difficulty rather than on story mode or
42:35on medium because it's a bit more of a
42:37challenge and it's a bit more fun I
42:38don't play on Ultra hard because that to
42:39me is too much but right now for me very
42:41hard difficulty is like you know it's
42:42good it's good sweet spot but once I get
42:44really good at very hard now I'm going
42:46to stop playing games on Ultra hard it's
42:47like it's the same stuff at the end of
42:48the day I know entrepreneurs who are
42:49making hundreds of millions a year and
42:51the thing that they're doing every day
42:52is pretty much the same as what I'm
42:53doing every day are you sitting on a
42:54laptop most of the time thinking about
42:56vision and having meetings with their
42:57the work always stays the same it's just
42:59that the levels the the level of the
43:00video game and the level of difficulty
43:02changes which is kind of fun it's part
43:03of video game it's an exhilarating
43:04Journey that you can be part of if you
43:05have it as a goal then just make sure
43:07that the plan you're following and the
43:08system you're using to stick to that
43:09plan is a sensible one that is the
43:11advice that I would give someone who
43:12wants to be financially free if you're
43:14interested in learning more there'll be
43:15stuff in productivity lab link down
43:16below and I've also linked all of the
43:18stuff the books the podcast the
