Hero Talents
Marksmanship Hunter
- Your two new Hero Talent trees are Dark Ranger and Sentinel.
- Dark Ranger and Sentinel currently performs similarly on pure single-target while Sentinel gets more value if you add more stacked targets to the fight and should be chosen in AoE situations.
- They both provide defensive benefit in different that are important to your survivability and should be taken into account, with Dark Ranger being more useful defensively in general.

- This hero talent tree introduces Black Arrow as a new rotational button to your gameplay with multiple benefits.
- Gives Deathblow when used.
- Has a 10% chance upon dealing damage to spawn in pets that attack your target.
- Also has a 10% chance upon dealing damage to give you a charge of Aimed Shot with 50% reduced cast time.
- The DoT from Black Arrow ticks 50% faster during Trueshot, granting you Aimed Shot charges and pet spawns more frequently during cooldowns.
- Dark Ranger applies Survival of the Fittest to you when you use Exhilaration through the talent Smoke Screen, making it an on demand damage reduction cooldown.
Using Survival of the Fittest with this talent chosen also heals you for 50% of what a normal Exhilaration would.- Shares choice node with Embrace the Shadows. About 25% of your damage is shadow damage as a Dark Ranger so this provides a decent chunk of healing to yourself.
- The Sentinel hero talent tree mostly provides passive benefits and does not introduce an additional button to your rotation.
- Mainly revolves around Sentinel applying up to 10 stacks to your target through different means within the hero talent tree which have a chance to activate, removing the stacks and dealing damage to the target.
- The talent Symphonic Arsenal gives this talent tree significant damage increase in stacked multi-target situations with each Multi-Shot you use.
- The capstone talent, Lunar Storm, makes it important for you to time a Rapid Fire whenever Lunar Storm is off cooldown to proc this ability on your target and increasing your damage you do to it and enemies around it.
- Sentinel grants you Don't Look Back, which is useful if a fight has a lot of big hits that you could use extra absorbs for to live.

Spec Tree
- Rapid Fire + Aimed Shot
- Your core damage dealing abilities as a Marksmanship Hunter. They are buffed by a lot of other talents you pick throughout your Talent Tree.
- Multi-Shot + Trick Shots + Volley
- Enables your entire AoE damage dealing kit. This combo is used in all 3+ target scenarios.
- Careful Aim + Bullseye
- Focuses a lot of your damage dealing potential on targets above 70% health and below 20% health.

- Heavily reduces the cooldown of your Exhilaration ability, allowing you to heal yourself on demand quite often.

- Grants Feign Death and Aspect of the Turtle the capability to dispel you on fights that apply Poison or Disease debuffs to you. Occasionally extremely useful to help yourself and your group.

- Default pick over Shadow Erasure since you already have enough talents resetting your Aimed Shot cooldown.

When to use this Spec
Use this spec for encounters with 3-4 targets.

Minor Talent Adjustments
- Depending on the amount of targets you are facing one talent swap has to be done.
- On 3-4 targets, use the build above which includes Heavy Ammo.
- On 5-6 targets, swap away from Heavy Ammo to Hydra's Bite.
- For 7+ targets, you swap back from Hydra's Bite for Light Ammo instead.
Hero Talents

Dark Ranger to Sentinel since it performs better in AoE situations.- You pick Crescent Steel for targets that live longer under 20% and swap to Overwatch for AoE situation where the targets die fast.

- Your goal in the opener is to use as many Rapid Fires, Kill Shots if you proc Deathblow, Wailing Arrows and lastly Aimed Shots, in that order of priority, as possible.
- If none of the above are ready, fill in with Arcane Shot.

- There can be a lot of variation in the opener since you have many talents that have a chance to reset the cooldown of certain abilities.

- When using Treacherous Transmitter it has a "puzzle" you need to solve to gain the effect, use it 10~ seconds before you use your Trueshot and identify and delay solving the puzzle until then.
This puts the trinket on cooldown earlier and allows for differently timed uses later on to line up with Trueshot again.- If you use Skardyn's Grace or any other normal on use trinket, use them with your Trueshot.
- Use Tempered Potion and racials like Blood Fury or Berserking right as you use your Trueshot.
- You can pre-stack 15 charges of Wailing Arrow while clearing trash for the next boss to allow another use of Wailing Arrow shortly after you pop your cooldowns.
Priority List
This is a general priority you aim to maintain throughout the fight.

Take these moments to refresh Steady Focus by using two in a row.

The Importance of Trick Shots on AoE
- It is crucial for you to ALWAYS have the Trick Shots buff active before you use Rapid Fire or Aimed Shot in AoE scenarios no matter what.
- Remember that using either of them always consumes your current Trick Shots buff, except when you have Volley running which constantly applies Trick Shots while active.
- Not doing this in all AoE cases results in a significant loss of overall damage.

Maximizing your Trueshot uses
- Trueshot has a baseline cooldown of 2 minutes, but with the talent Calling the Shots you reduce it to about 1:20-1:30~ seconds depending on how much Focus you spend, your uptime and your Haste.
- Your goal should be to fit as many Trueshots as possible over the duration of a fight while also making sure you use it when it grants the most amount of damage output.
- Some examples to maximize your cooldown effectiveness are:
- Using one of your Trueshots during execute for extra Crit from Bullseye.
- Having it ready for whenever your group uses Bloodlust.
- Lining it up with any on use trinket you have.
- Using it at times where you can stand still and only focus on dealing damage since you need to cast a lot of Aimed Shots during your cooldowns.
- Having it for certain AoE situations during the fight, ideally also combining it with your Volley.
- A lot of your total DPS comes from your cooldown windows, so considering all the above mentioned information and applying it to any fight of any duration increases the consistency of your overall DPS.
- Below are some examples of fight durations and how they would pan out.
- For a 2-minute fight, use Trueshot on pull and again when the boss is below 20% health, leaving you about a 10-20 second leeway to time your last use appropriately.
- In a 3-minute fight, you barely fit three Trueshot uses if you have full uptime, so using the second as soon as it's ready is important to fit a third at the very end of the fight.
- In a 4-minute fight, you still only expect three uses, allowing for flexibility to use them at more ideal timings to maximize output.
- In a 5-minute fight, you can now fit four uses with about 30 seconds of total leeway.

Offensive Cooldown Usage
- Use your first Treacherous Transmitter about 8 seconds before you pull and proc it for your first Trueshot.
Boss Tips
- The most important thing to note for DPS is to instantly use your second Trueshot as it comes up again in the first phase to get value from it before the boss phases.
- You can clear Stalkers Webbing on the ground by running through them with Aspect of the Turtle up.
- Use a defensive for each Venomous Lash.
- Save all your movement abilities to help turn in Chunky Viscera to the boss as quickly as possible to start the next phase.
- Dodge Stalkers Webbing, Juggernaut Charge and make sure to stand in the Carnivorous Contest soak when it is your turn.
Offensive Cooldown Usage
- When assigning Add groups for this boss, ask to be put in the second group going down since it lines up better with your cooldown timings.
Boss Tips
- Use a defensive for each Crimson Rain and Bloodcurdle. Save the stronger ones for when you have the Gruesome Disgorge debuff.
- Stand in the tank frontal Gruesome Disgorge when it's your assigned group's turn. The Forgotten Harbinger summons smaller adds through Manifest Horror that move towards the boss. Help deal with these by using Tar Trap, Binding Shot and other CC if necessary to stop their movement.
- When the boss casts Goresplatter you need two ways to get across Black Blood without taking unnecessary damage. You do this by using Demonic Gateway to get away from the cast and then Disengage back after the cast is finished.
- Don't move with each tentacle that spawns from Grasp From Beyond, instead wait a second and place two in the same place before dodging to create more space for yourself and other players.

- Use your first Treacherous Transmitter about 5 seconds before you pull and proc it for your first Trueshot.
Boss Tips
- Pre-position for each Phase Blades and Decimate to handle the mechanic easily.
- Use a defensive for each Decimate, whether you have the debuff or not, and each time the boss casts Shattering Sweep.
Offensive Cooldown Usage
- Use your first Treacherous Transmitter about 5 seconds before you pull and proc it for your first Trueshot.
Boss Tips
- On Rasha'nan you play the single-target build with the adjustments of adding Volley to enable some AoE for the Infested Spawn, and swapping to Sentinel since the boss spends more amount of time under 20% health than a normal boss.
- Move out with Spinneret's Strands and quickly Disengage out of it as it lands on you, without getting to close to other players for Tacky Threads on Mythic difficulty.
- Save Aspect of the Cheetah for when the boss flies to the other side of the boss room to get there quicker.
- If you get Rolling Acid, quickly identify which direction it's going and move out of the group in that same direction.
- Make sure to dodge Enveloping Webs, stand with everyone in Web Reave and dodge any Acid Pool on the ground.

- Use your first Treacherous Transmitter about 5 seconds before you pull and proc it for your first Trueshot.
Boss Tips
- Use a defensive every time you get Experimental Dosage on you.
- Save Volley, Salvo and Explosive Shot for when Blood Parasites spawn.
- Use Disengage to cleanse yourself from Unstable Web if you're in a safe position to not hit anyone with your circle.
- Always pre-position to where you are breaking your next eggs in case you get Experimental Dosage.
- Help control Blood Parasites that spawn by placing Tar Trap and Binding Shot on them.
- Make sure you help interrupting Poison Burst on the Voracious Worm adds, especially if multiple are spawned.

Your first transmitter you use ~10 seconds before pull and solve the puzzle right before it expires. Every other transmitter during the fight you use on the timings shown but solve the puzzle when you use your
Trueshot.Defensive Cooldown Usage
Boss Tips
- Pre-position well at the start of each phase in case you get targeted by Assassination. When it expires it places a zone under you that later pulls you in through Nether Rift.
- Save Aspect of the Turtle and Fortitude of the Bear for when you get targeted by either Assassination or Twilight Massacre to negate the extra damage from Queensbane.
- When the Queensbane debuff runs out on you, make sure you're out of the raid stack and aiming the Dark Viscera away from other players.
- For your Exhilaration and Survival of the Fittest, follow the defensive timeline above.
- Make sure you dodge Nexus Daggers, Regicide, Eclipse and lastly Dark Viscera that shoot out of players with Queensbane.

Boss Tips
- When adds spawn from Call of the Swarm try to knock them closer to the bosses with High Explosive Trap.
- Don't stand too far away from Anub'arash when Impaling Eruption is about to be cast, making dodging it easier.
- Make sure you help to stopping the Reckless Charge by moving together with another player into a Web Bomb and using the Binding Webs between you to intercept the charge.
- Any remaining Web Bombs after the Reckless Charge has been stopped can be cleared by walking into them alone.

Tertiary
- Avoidance - Great stat to reduce the damage intake of "Area of Effect" abilities.
- Leech - Provides additional healing through dealing damage. Great stat especially in AoE scenarios.
- Speed - Way less useful for you since Marksmanship Hunter already has great mobility, but it can help you deal with certain mechanics in raids or increase your DPS slightly over a boss fight.

Active Trinket alternatives
- Treacherous Transmitter
- On use trinket that lines up best with your Trueshot cooldown.
- Comes with a drawback of first having to solve one of three "puzzles" within 15 seconds of using it to gain the effect of the trinket.
- Catch a purple orb.
- Jump 3 times.
- Stand in a portal on the ground for 2~ seconds.
- Mad Queen's Mandate
- Strong on use that deals a heavy amount of damage to your target over 2 seconds.
- Especially useful on fights where you need to kill a newly spawned target quickly.
- Skardyn's Grace
- Strong farmable 2 minute on use, doesn't line up as well with Trueshot but can be planned around on certain fight lengths.

- Crafted items are 636 item level and regular items are 636 on max item level, therefore, it's not beneficial to equip crafted items outside of your 2x embellishments unless you don't have access to other high item level gear on that slot.

Races
Marksmanship Hunter
For min-maxing a Marksmanship Hunter in raiding, different racial traits can provide a tremendous benefit to your character. If this is not your top goal, picking a race that fits your style works just as well.
Alliance
- Stoneform -- Dwarf
- Able to dispel a lot of debuffs from you on demand, while also providing you with a 10% physical damage reduction upon use.
- Might of the Mountain -- Dwarf
- Passively increasing your Critical Damage and Healing done by 2%.
- Will to Survive -- Human
- Can break you out of certain CC, even in PvE scenarios.
- The Human Spirit -- Human
- You gain 2% more secondary stats from all sources.
- Spatial Rift -- Void Elf
- Throws out a shadowy projectile in front of you, if you press this button again after the projectile is thrown out, you teleport to its current location. Occasionally extremely useful for its unique movement capability.
- Entropic Embrace -- Void Elf
- Occasionally empowering you to deal 5% more damage with all your spells for 12 seconds.
Horde
- War Stomp -- Tauren
- Stuns 5 enemies close to you for 2 seconds.
- Endurance -- Tauren
- Increases your maximum health.
- Brawn -- Tauren
- Passively increasing your Critical Damage and Healing done by 2%.
- Berserking -- Troll
- Increases your Haste by 10% for 12 seconds. Useful if you want a damage racial that provides more burst damage.
- Rocket Jump -- Goblin
- About the same as Disengage, except it launches you forward instead of backward. Can be very useful on certain encounters with heavy movement.
- Time is Money -- Goblin
- Increases your Haste by 1%.
Recommendation
For you as a Marksmanship Hunter, the overall most useful races for you to play would be
Dwarf for Alliance and Tauren for Horde, with the latter winning out slightly overall since Stoneform only has occasional usefulness in Raids compared to the defensive increase from Endurance for Tauren, though when Stoneform helps your progression like it has in the past on bosses like Tindral Sageswift and Fyrakk the Blazing it is the clear winner.Macros
