Cabin Pressure Controller (CPC) Installation |
SUBTASK 21-31-01-910-002
|
CAUTION:
DO NOT TOUCH THE COMPONENT BEFORE YOU DO THE PROCEDURE FOR DEVICES THAT ARE SENSITIVE TO ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE. ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE COMPONENT. |
(1)
Do the necessary steps to protect the pressure controller No. 1 [2] and pressure controller No. 2 [1] from electrostatic discharge. Do this task: ESDS Handling for Metal Encased Unit Installation, TASK 20-40-12-400-802. |
SUBTASK 21-31-01-420-002
|
(2)
Make sure the shipping protection cap [2] is removed from the cabin pressure port on the faceplate of the controller. |
SUBTASK 21-31-01-020-002
|
CAUTION:
DO NOT TOUCH THE CONDUCTOR PINS OR OTHER CONDUCTORS ON THE COMPONENT. IF YOU TOUCH THESE CONDUCTORS, ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE COMPONENT. |
(3)
Remove any protective caps or bags from the pressure controller No. 1 [2] and pressure controller No. 2 [1]. Do this task: Conductive Dust Cap and Connector Cover Removal, TASK 20-40-12-000-804. |

|
(4)
Visually inspect the installed copper tape on the cabin pressure controller to determine if any of these conditions exist: |
(a)
Abrasions to the copper tape at the corners of the front cover |
(b)
Splitting/tearing of the copper tape at these locations: |
1)
Along the edges of the front cover at the juncture with the side covers |
2)
At the four corners of the front cover. |
(c)
Disbonding/peeling of the copper tape away from the controller front cover |
(d)
If any of the above conditions exist, replace all of the copper tape. |
SUBTASK 21-31-01-420-004
|
(5)
Replace damaged copper tape as follows: |
(a)
Remove all the installed tape. |
(b)
Clean the surfaces to be taped as follows: |
1)
Use a G00034 cotton wiper that is moist with B00062 solvent or B00634 Limonene solvent to clean the surface of tape residue. |
2)
Use a G00034 cotton wiper to remove all traces of solvent from the surfaces to be taped until the surfaces are dry. |
(c)
Install the 1-inch wide G50630 3M 1181 copper foil tape to the controller front cover and the interfacing controller sides as shown on Figure 401 or Figure 402 : |
1)
Make sure the tape overlaps the front cover of the controller a minimum of 1.5 mm and a maximum of 2.2 mm with the remainder of the tape applied to the sides of the controller. |
2)
Make sure the tape blocks all optical openings into the controller where the controller front cover interfaces with the sides of the controller. |
3)
Apply multiple layers of tape as necessary to make sure all openings into the controller are blocked: |
a)
Make sure that all openings at the front cover corners are blocked. |
4)
Do not cover the BITE instruction label. |
SUBTASK 21-31-01-410-002
|
(6)
If the Added Layer Of Protection (ALOP) tape is not installed on the cabin pressure controller do the following steps: |
NOTE:
The additional tape layer should not replace the required copper tape. It is installed to protect the copper tape from damage. |
(a)
Make sure the existing copper tape has been inspected and replaced as necessary. |
(b)
Install the ALOP G50179 moisture barrier tape or ALOP G51207 moisture barrier tape over the copper tape on the four corners and edges of the cabin pressure controller front cover as shown on Figure 401 or Figure 402 . |
1)
Make sure the tape overlaps the front cover of the controller a minimum of 0.375 in. (9.525 mm) and maximum of 0.45 in. (11.43 mm) |
a)
Trim the ALOP tape at the handle and BITE module. |
b)
Make sure the ALOP tape overlaps the side of the BITE module. |
2)
Apply the remainder of the ALOP tape width to the sides of the cabin pressure controller. |
a)
Make sure the ALOP overlaps the existing copper tape. |
3)
Do not cover the cooling holes on the sheet metal. |
(c)
Make sure that the modification level sticker at the front is still readable. |
(d)
Make sure that the bite instruction label is not covered with tape. |
