Braking Trial - Threshold - Beginner Level

This trial is built with 3 hard braking zones for you to evaluate your threshold braking. At the beginner level, we will start with the Spec Racer Ford. This car is heavy for a single-seater and has very minimal downforce. The tire sidewall is large, allowing the tire to deform a bit more. You will have a lot of headroom to make corrections if you lock up compared to other faster cars.

Your goal is to have a slow ramp-up to the brakes, brake consistently at the threshold, and respect the reference markers on the track.

Common Mistakes 常见错误
1. Too fast ramp up, and too hard pressure

When braking for a corner, you must know how your car is designed. If you have a soft car with not a lot of downforce, you will need to ramp up slowly. If you have a stiff suspension car with a lot of downforce, you can ramp up quickly. The Spec Racer Ford is a heavy car for a single seater (slow ramp up) and does not have much downforce (slow ramp up). It also has a large sidewall tire: it can deform more than thin sidewall tires in theory. Therefore, the tire will have a zone where you can correct a lock-up without completely missing a corner.

2. Braking at the wrong reference marker

If you brake too early, you will lose time in the braking zone. If you brake too late, you will miss the corner.

3. Braking at the right marker, but too soft

You will often think that you have missed your corner because you braked too early. It is not always the case. You need to question if you are at the limit under braking. If you are under the limit but at the right marker, you will miss the corner.
